In our efforts to help families exit the cycle of dependency and become self-sufficient, our organization has given those who wish to start a business an opportunity to do so. We meet with them to discuss their business model, and upon approval, provide them with a small loan of $300 US. This acts as a influx of capital, allowing the business owner greater buying power increasing profitability. This is especially effective in ventures where business owners buy goods or commodities at wholesale, and then sell them at retail in the market. Others use the funds to purchase livestock or farming supplies. The business owner is given one year to pay back the loan, interest free, and our goal at that time is for them to be self-sufficient. This allows us to then shift our focus to other families in need. The money you donate for the microloan can be returned to you upon its repayment, or, as most do, be rolled over to another family to start a new business.
If you would like to help a family start a new business, head to our Donate page and designate your funds as “Microfinance” along with your donation. Please contact us for more information.
